Twenty and Six Espresso Location: 594 Queensberry Street, North Melbourne VIC Contact: 03 9329 0298 I had the loveliest breakfast the other day at Twenty and Six Espresso. Far down Queensberry and just around the corner from Auction Rooms on Errol Street, it’s a small cafe with a bit of ‘tude serving up pretty brunches and scrumptious cakes. Wooden boxes housing the latest mags and long lights hover from above, and characters and drawings of paper planes are strewn across the white walls. It’s a busy place, and for good reason. Twenty and Six also serves up the Seven Seeds blend, whose main store is just a stone’s throw away in the lane hugging Melbourne University. The cakes on offer looked absolutely gorgeous – the ginger version here looks positively fluffy!
Dee’s nuts ($14.90)I haven’t had rice pudding in a long time, so I was delighted to see this one on the menu. With a sweet banana and brown rice pudding that was served warm, this tasty brekkie was topped off with lashings of salted coconut, toasted nuts, puffed wild rice, raisins, and Canadian maple. Decorated with pretty purple and yellow flowers perched on top, it was a delightful and jam-packed pudding that I absolutely enjoyed.

The Cleanse ($12.90)My dining companion ordered The Cleanse – a bircher museli rounded off with shredded green apple, sliced strawberries, rosewater, puffed grains, basil and toffeed hazelnuts. One of the fancier birchers, it looked both delicious and healthy.
