Middle Fish Address: 122-128 Berkeley St, Carlton, VIC 3053 Contact: 03 9348 1704 Opening Hours: Monday-Friday 7am-5pm; Saturday-Sunday 10am-4pm I absolutely adore the fit out at Middle Fish and its hip brother, Mr. Nice Guy. A gorgeous warehouse conversion, the light-filled space is decked out with quirky pops of colour and pretty fixtures, from cute blackboards donning pictures of giraffes to bright pink stools and plush wooden chairs. Freshly baked goods and bright flowers line the rustic wooden counter, and an intricate iron lattice separates the dining area from the walkway. It’s the kind of contemporary space that I can imagine happily spending hours in and it’d still manage to put a smile on my face.
Vegetarian pad thai ($17.5 dine-in/$12 takeaway)The vegetarian pad thai is delicious; a chewy mix of stir fried rice noodles with a good amount of bite. It’s made whole with eggs and cubes of firm tofu, fragrant sauce, a handful of crispy bean shoots and crunchy chopped peanuts. Served with a wedge of lemon, it’s a yummy guilty pleasure (and quite reasonably priced if you opt for the takeaway version at $12).

Vegetarian Pad See EwThe rest of the photos are dishes that my dining companions ordered. From what I gather, it looked like they really enjoyed their meals too :)

Massaman CurryI honestly feel quite lucky that Middle Fish is just on the doorstep of my workplace. With the trio of Seven Seeds, Middle Fish and Kaprika in the vicinity, I’m a bit spoilt for choice when it comes to brunch and lunch spots. Whilst I haven’t put up a review of Middle Fish’s newer restaurant, Mr. Nice Guy, I’d definitely recommend a visit if you’re in the area (it’s on the other side of the city, towards King Street). The venue is just as gorgeous (a bit of a mosaic heaven), and the food just as good (though on the fancier side of Thai fusion). Absolutely love it.
