It’s one of those nights; you’ve had a long day at the office, the sun’s going down, and a last minute trip to the supermarket is the last thing on your mind. Cue Huxtaburger. Adding to the craze of brioche, pickles, mustard and mayo, Huxtaburger wraps up gourmet, good quality American-style burgers for around $10 a hit.

Rudy ($5)The menu is built around the base ‘huxtaburger’, with Rudy being a mini variant of the staple. It’s a teeny little burger, with a juicy beef pattie, mustard, mayo, tomato sauce, tomato, cheese, lettuce and pickles. The brioche is fluffy, and soaks up the sauces well – yum.
Theo ($12)The Theo, on the other hand, is a bit of a monstrosity – it’s the base with bacon, a double pattie, double cheese and bbq sauce. Whilst enticing on paper, it’s not as good as the traditional huxtaburger; the meat is so heavy that it becomes quite difficult to taste anything else. Furthermore, the bun’s quite soggy and lost amongst the meat and cheese.
Denise ($9.5)Denise, ‘the hot one’, is ultimately my fave – the usual huxtaburger plus a hot kick from jalapenos and creamy sriracha mayo. Not a bad quick fix to those deafening hunger pangs. Huxtaburger 106 Smith Street Collingwood VIC 3006 Contact: http://www.huxtaburger.com.au/ Phone: 9417 MEAT
