Haymarket Place Location: 212 Berkeley St, Carlton, VIC 3053 Contact: 03 9347 8228 I’m loving the variety that’s been sweeping through the Carlton arena, and with Haymarket Place being yet another quirky addition to the morning mix, we really are spoilt for choice. Wedged in an alleyway off Berkeley Street, the relatively new entrant boasts a good range of sweet pastries and cakes, and a decent brunch menu to go. And with quite a cute fitout (that large wallpaper of books spans the back wall), it’s not hard to see why this cafe is quickly gaining traction. Still feeling the remnants of my food coma from the day before (that post is to come shortly), I stick to a coffee on its lonesome, whilst E goes for her usual long black, accompanied by a slice of one of the loaves that’s just come out of the oven. Quite cheap (it was around $3.5) & packed with an interesting mix of coconut and berries, E really enjoyed it. The coffees are also not bad, especially if you’re looking for a different blend from the usual Seven Seeds. Definitely worth a visit.
